LTU Fleet

Since 1955 a reliable, passenger- and environmental-friendly fleet has always been of great importance for LTU. Following this tradition, LTU operates with one of the youngest, safest and technically most advanced Airbus-fleets worldwide.

In summer 2007, LTU’s fleet comprises a total of 27 aircraft (11 Airbus A 320-200, 4 Airbus A 321-200, 9 Airbus A 330-200, 3 Airbus A 330-300) with an overall inventory of 6654 seats including 216 seats in Business Class.

In November 1998, the Dusseldorf-based airline introduced the advantages of the Business Class to its long haul passengers. In Summer 2007 LTU decides to enlarge the number of its business class seats from 18 to 30 seats for the winter season 2007/2008.

On long haul services to North America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia LTU flies its twin-engine widebody Airbus A330-200. By order of Air Berlin LTU’s A320 aircraft are operating flights from German airports to popular holiday destinations such as the Canary Islands, the Mediterranean and North Africa. In July 2007, the average fleet age is 5.58 years.

With its decision for Airbus Industries, LTU carried out an important step on the way to fleet harmonization and reduction of complexity costs – costs that arise from the operation of different aircraft types. The similarity of all Airbus flight decks enables LTU greater flexibility regarding crew rosters and significant savings on training and maintenance costs.
